Tejas Tubular is fully equipped to serve your inspection and evaluation requirements.

Incoming Product Inspection
Raw Material
Tejas Tubular's qualified QC Specialists evaluate and inspect even the highest quality products received on a continuous basis to ensure total compliance with industry standards before processing. Tejas Tubular only processes premium materials that meet the metallurgical and mechanical requirements imposed by their stringent internal specifications.

Product Supplied by Customer
Before processing, customer materials are verified against industry standards and approved by the Quality Assurance Department. Only then will the product be accepted for processing.

Traceability
Tejas Tubular's Traceability Database tracks each steel heat from recieving to the end product. This traceability system ensures finished product identification and monitors product field performance.

Electromagnetic Inspection
General Information
The electromagnetic Inspection is designed to discover defects in materials such as inclusions, cracks or other faults which will corrupt the quality and durability of the tubular product. Nondestructive testing makes the invisible become visible.

Tejas Tubular tests the internal and external surfaces of the tube body for transversal and longitudinal defects in an automated, electromagnetic process, which also verifies the wall thickness and the grade of the tubular product in this process.

Technical Characteristics
  • Diameter: 1.66" to 5-1/2"
  • Wall Thickness: 0.100 to 0.500
  • Pipe Specifications: Tubing, casing, line pipe, Drill pipe, and other national or international specification taken as reference.
  • Frequency of the inspection: 100% of all API products as well as drill pipe.
  • Frequency of verification: At Start Up and thereafter at every 50 joints tested.
  • Record: Each piece tested is documented on charts.

Ultrasonic
General Information
Ultrasonics is used by Tejas Tubular as a nondestructive testing method to evaluate the integrity of each product. For the purpose of defect identification, the Ultrasonic transducers are designed and positioned to explore each zone from both sides of the pipe. Signals received by the ultrasonic instruments are monitored electronically and both amplitude of signal and its time of arrival can be determined to evaluate the quality of the products.

Technical Characteristic of Equipment

  • Diameter: 1" to 20"
  • Wall Thickness: up to 0.500"
  • Pipe Specifications: Tubing, casing line pipe, Drill pipe, and other national or international specification taken as reference.
  • Frequency of inspection: 100% all API products as well as drill pipe.
  • Frequency of verification: Each shift
  • Record : Each piece tested is documented on charts.

Upset Inspection
General Information
Tejas Tubular upsetters have a geometry that minimizes stress concentrations on the tubular product. The length of the internal upset can be extended.

The Tejas Tubular upsetter assures all the parameters affecting the pipe are controlled.

Each upset end is carefully inspected by a Quality Assurance Inspector. Dimensional, drift and visual characteristics are evaluated to agree with the specified standards.

Metallographic analysis of the upset section is made in order to assure the integrity of the product.

Technical Characteristics

  • Upset: API , Extended, upset for premium threads.
  • Diameters to upset: 1" to 5-1/2"
Special End Area / Wet Magnetic Particle Inspection
General Information
Wet or dry magnetic particle inspection ensures that cracks, inclusions and any detrimental defects are not present at the upset ends or couplings. The inspection are conducted by skilled and trained personnel.

Thread Inspection
General Information
Tejas Tubular utilizes the newest high-output CNC threading equipment to ensure adequate volume and quality in its double end finishing line. Each joint of threaded pipe is visually inspected and dimensional measures are checked in sequential order during process. Once threads are cleaned and dope applied to avoid pitting, couplings are applied and tightened with the specified torque.

Technical Characteristics of Thread Gauges
All gauges and testing equipment are calibrated against master gauges and labeled by Tejas Tubular laboratory Quality Control Specialists. This method ensures that thread inspections, as all other Quality Control Procedures, are conducted with the highest degree of precision. Tejas Tubular also specializes in inspection gages for premium thread designs.

Product Check Sends Out
Immediately after the final visual inspection, pipe is weighed, measured and stenciled with the company name, API monogram number, product information and identification code. Tejas Tubular products are then spray coated and deposited on drying tables from where they are transported to their storage facilities.

Tejas Tubular assures that each finished product will meet or exceed all required specified standards and guarantees 100% customer satisfaction.

A tally sheet, warranty and quality certificate is sent to the customer documenting the quality of Tejas Tubular's product and services.
